Supernatural

For this assignment I wanted to look at supernatural in a different way. I knew everyone would do something with monsters or super powers but I wanted to look at the power that my favourite stuffed animal has to make me always feel better and always be there for me. I wanted to combine both video and animation so give the final product a different feel. The animation makes it feel like sheep walking around is like a dream or imaginary thing that he does when I’m gone but then when he moves at the end it make it show that his powers are real to me when he makes me feel better. I’ve had sheep since I was about 5 and I sleep with his every night. I don’t really care if that makes me weird or childish, he hold a special place in my heart. I wanted to show that he loves me and I love him. I don’t know if that’s weird to say about a stuffed animal but I feel like its true. I wanted the animation to be very simple and fun to feel more dream like as though it may not be real that he moves around and misses me when i’m gone. Lover is a powerful this that could be seen as supernatural and a stuffed animal moving is also pretty supernatural. For the sounds I really wanted them to be soft and not too overpowering so I used the sound of a bean bag fro when he falls and his footsteps because he has beans in his feet and butt so it would make a little rustling sound when he walks around. I used some blankets moving around when he climes the bed because he would be scraping his belly along the bed when he climbs up the covers so I wanted to make it feel more real. I also included the sound of a door open and closing to show when I have left or entered to room to transition between the animation and life video as though me coming back has ended the dream or imaginary scenario. All of the sound were just to enhance the possibility and realism of the animation to make the sound that he would actually make if he were to be doing the things depicted in the animation. I used fishing line to make him hug me at the end of the video so that it would look like he was moving on his own and make it seem like the animated part could have actually been real. I really loved doing this as it really brought me joy to do a video about my “best friend”. Sheep makes me happy do matter what and I wanted that to be seen in the video and show is super power of making me feel better through anything life can through at me. I feel it the whole video turned out good but if I were to do it again I would have added a bit more to Sheep’s adventure around the room to make sure he was on the bed when I get home and I would have also show how he makes me feel better a little more apparent.
